My son has acquired a 3D printer. He’s made me some ace plectrums (with extra grip) and now some caps for my HXFX switches. from a file on the web I will see if they make a difference to anything physically, but they certainly stand out!

I’ll need to check if this type of cap adds any unwanted sideways pressure to the switch, but I guess this happens anyway, with gorillas jumping on them through the night. One unexpected (though obvious!) drawback is that they don’t allow capacitance sensing, which I use quite a lot). Maybe other materials don’t have this issue. So, as in the photo, they work best on mode and tap, though the latter is far less visually effective for displaying the tempo under a cover, so I shan’t be using it.

All in all, good luck to those who spend a fortune on flashy plastic covers…
