The latest in a long line of midi pedals, each one improving upon the last (Frankenstein). I’m still obliged to cannibalise existing pedals, since I can’t find the right shaped (banked) enclosures. In this case it’s an Ibanez pedal of some kind. I wanted the upper row offset from the lower, so ended up with 9 switches. 8 of these send midi commands, the other switches between two banks (or optionally 3), indicated by a pair of LEDs.

As you can see from the photo, I’ve made strenuous efforts to make it neat and tidy inside. (Seriously, check out earlier versions!) Sadly, my soldering & wiring skills lack finesse, but it seems to work. I’ve long sought some local guru to handle the assembly side, but no joy as yet.

Bank 1 controls ableton looper as follows:

1 – rec/play / 2 – reverse / 3 – octave down / 4 – octave up / 5 – undo
6 – clear / 7 – double length / 8 – alternate feedback between 75 & 100% / 9 – switch banks

Bank 2 controls Echoloop VST (a plugin version of the echoplex digital pro looper) used mostly for quantised replace.

I keep seeing new commercial midi pedals, but few do exactly what I want with the right number of switches at the right physical size. Plus they cost serious dosh, plus DIY is fun!
